consumerism

i walked into sephora the other day and felt strange - i didn't need or want anything. i'm pretty content with my collection at the moment, for the first time in my life. is it because i'm getting older and more resistant to change? or is it because i've exhausted all of what's available, and i've found the best of what's out there. who knows.

i am in deeply in love with my products, and i would like to dedicate a blog post to a few of my favorites right now. yes, i am fully aware of how insane i am. :)

NutriMinC Re9 facewash. i've tried a pretty impressive span of face washes. drugstore brands (clean&clear, nutragena, aveeno, etc), dept store stuff (dior, amore pacific, shiseido, philosophy, dr. perricone), specialty stuff (proactiv, artistry, coreana). this one is king! it's drying bc it has vitaminC, but i am legit in love with this stuff. it's sold through one of those weird product pyramid schemes, and my mom is a total sucker and bought the entire line from her friend. the rest of their products are terrible, but this facewash is amazing. i looked up all the ingredient bc i am crazy like that, and it's all good stuff.

Cle De Peau Cream Foundation. my old roommate intro'd this to me back in '07. i have sold my soul to cle de peau since. their concealer is also a must have. the prices are so outrageous that it makes me hate cle de peau. lovehatelovehate. ugh, i deserve a loyalty discount from them. but i remain loyal only to these 2 products; their eye cream and face wash are atrocious. hon mention for when my wallet is thin goes to armani silk

Clarins Lip Balm. tina, i really hope this works out for you!! this was my saving grace this past winter when my lips were freaking out from deathly dryness.

Mac Paint Pot in Bare Study.
the renaissance eye make up - eyeshadow, primer, highlighter, shimmer. life changer. i will protest with picket signs outside the mac headquarters if they ever discontinue this. i have it in indianwood too. hon mention goes to mac eyeshadow in satin taupe.

Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Ink. i broke up with pencil liners back in high school bc they make me look like a crackwhore by the end of the day (mega smudgage). liquid liners are more high maintenance than i am, and take forever to apply/dry. works best with either a mac brush or a paula dorf brush. i can write a book on black eyeliner; we've shared many adventures for almost 10 years now.

Hoola by Benefit. super pigmented matte bronzer. it can make you look like you wiped mud on your face. the brush is trash, i dont even know why they make that p.o.s. i hated this when i first got it. but there's a learning curve to this, and it's super awesome for contouring once i figured it out (not just awesome, super awesome). best with a fan brush, or a big kabuki brush. i am part of a minority that despise glitter/shimmer in bronzer. hon mention goes to cargo matte in medium.

in other news, i bought a pair of boots, flats, and 5" wedges all in 1 week. (along with blazer/slacks/shirt for oral args). i feel good about doing my part to help restore the faltering economy.

i just realized i lied in the opening sentence of this post. i need/want OPI drying drops from sephora, which was why i went there to begin with, but then realized i left my return item at home. i guess there is no such thing as being 100% content.
